Polyurethane adhesive for textile flocking

Prepn. of self-emulsifiable or dispersible adhesive composition contg. polyurethane (I). - For bonding textile flock to a support in making flocked materials. - The adhesive is made by preparing a prepolymer having terminal isocyanate gps. by reacting toluene diisocyanate (II) with a deficiency (with respect to theoretical amount) of a mixture of two types of polyalkylene ether glycols. One of these is a glycol contg. a quaternary ammonium unit, and the other is non-modified. A latex is formed by reacting the prepolymer with water until all the isocyanate gps. have reacted, and the viscosity of the latex is controlled by adding a thickener (III). - The latex viscosity is pref. 20,000-100,000 cps. The reaction between the diisocyanate and glycol is effected at 50-70 deg.C.
