ELECTRONIC MAIL COMMUNICATION APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR COMMUNICATING VIA ELECTRONIC MAIL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow image data to be dealt with transmission or reception via an electronic mail even when sheet sizes to be handled at a transmission side and a reception side are different when the data is transmitted or received via the electronic mail. SOLUTION: The electronic mail communication apparatus communicates with a transmission destination via an internet to obtain sheet size information to be handled at the destination. An original is read by reducing to a handleable sheet size by the apparatus at the transmission destination based on the sheet size information thus obtained. A process for compressing the read data is conducted. The compressed data is converted into a format of the electronic mail, and the converted data is transmitted to the destination via the electronic mail. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
