PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber which is small in the external diameter of a bare optical fiber without increasing a transmission loss. SOLUTION: The dispersion compensated optical fiber having a primary coating layer 3 of≤0.1 kg/mm2in Young's modulus on the circumference of the bare optical fiber 2 having the external diameter below 125μm and having a secondary coating layer 4 of≥150 kg/mm2in Young's modulus on the primary coating layer 3, and a rare earth-added optical fiber.
