<p>A hydraulic amplifier system for an ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography system. The hydraulic amplifier system includes a hydraulic cylinder (14) comprising a primary piston chamber (20) in which a primary piston (22) is disposed and a secondary piston chamber (30) in which a secondary piston (26) is disposed. The cross-sectional area of the primary piston (22) is larger than the cross-sectional area of the secondary piston (26). The difference in the cross-sectional areas of the pistons (22, 26) creates an amplification of the pressure in the primary piston chamber (20) and a reduction in flow rate.</p> |
