A reciprocating fluid engine is provided having a high frequency and a high stroke force. The reciprocating fluid engine may be used to power a vehicle, such as a toy ornithopter. The reciprocating fluid engine has a piston in which every stroke is a drive stroke. An ornithopter having the reciprocating fluid engine has a piston in which each piston stroke moves the wings of the ornithopter either up or down, thereby causing the wings to flap.
