PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for inspection of a panel for a cathode ray tube are provided to discriminate defective panels in a convenient and accurate manner by inspecting the size of the blister existing in the panel. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a table(20) for providing an inspecting position of a panel(1); an illuminator(30) for illuminating the panel disposed on the inspecting position of the table; a first camera(40) for photographing an overall image of the panel projected through the illuminator, and outputting image data; a second camera(50) for photographing images of the blister of the panel projected through the illuminator, and outputting image data; a Cartesian coordinate motion unit(60) for moving the second camera with respect to the blister of the panel; and a computer for controlling the Cartesian coordinate motion unit by processing the image data output from the first camera in accordance with a program such that the second camera is aligned with respect to the blister of the panel where a mark for recognition of the position of the blister is made, and processing the image data output from the second camera in accordance with a program.
