PURPOSE: A method for measuring a position of a mobile terminal in a mobile communication system is provided to temporarily change a threshold value of a pilot signal, and to transmit the changed pilot signal to a mobile terminal, in order to know position information of the mobile terminal, thereby supplying a position information service by changing software without additionally configuring hardware. CONSTITUTION: If a request message for position measurement of a position determining entity(101) is sensed, a BSC(105) changes a threshold value of a pilot signal, and transmits the pilot signal to a mobile terminal(109) via the first BTS(107). The mobile terminal(109) changes a currently set pilot signal threshold value to the received pilot signal threshold value, measures pilot phase information and pilot strength information, and transmits the measured pilot phase and the strength information to the first BTS(107). The first BTS(107) transmits RTD(Round Trip Delay) time information and the pilot phase and the strength information to the position determining entity(101) through the BSC(105). The position determining entity(101) estimates a position of the mobile terminal(109) with a TDOA(Time Difference Of Arrival) system, and compensates the estimated position with the RTD time information.
