PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide silica gel for a humidity conditioning agent which adsorbs humidity contained in an ambient atmosphere to adjust the atmosphere to prescribed humidity, which can attain humidity conditioning of high efficiency and high precision and can be manufactured at a low cost. SOLUTION: In the silica gel for the humidity conditioning agent which adsorbs humidity contained in the ambient atmosphere to adjust the atmosphere to prescribed humidity, (a) fine pore volume is 0.6 to 2.0 ml/g, (b) specific surface area is 300 to 1,000 m<SP>2</SP>/g, (c) fine pore diameter of highest frequency (D<SB>max</SB>) is below 20 nm, (d) total volume of fine pores having diameters of within D<SB>max</SB>±20% range is≥50% of total volume of whole fine pores (e) the silica gel is amorphous, (f) total content of metallic impurities except alkali metals and alkaline earth metals is≤500 ppm and (g) when chemical shift of Q<SP>4</SP>-peak in solid Si-NMR isδ(ppm),δsatisfies formula (1) described below. -0.0705×(D<SB>max</SB>)-110.36>δ... formula (1).
