PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet emission discharge tube allowing the proper determinination of a replacement time of the ultraviolet emission discharge tube by detecting whether the ultraviolet-ray emission amount of the ultraviolet emission discharge tube is reduced or not. SOLUTION: A first substrate 12 formed of ultraviolet-ray transmitting glass is disposed oppositely to a second substrate 14 formed of a visible light transmitting glass with a predetermined space. In an airtight container 18 formed by airtightly sealing the edges of both the substrates 12 and 14 through a sealing material 16, a pair of discharge electrodes 20, 20, an ultraviolet-ray emission gas and a phosphor 24 for generating visible light by being irradiated by the ultraviolet ray generated in the airtight container 18 are enclosed.
