PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diversity device and a method therefor in which the scale of a decoder is suppressed and high error-correction is performed at the same time by using information acquired from a plurality of routes. SOLUTION: The diversity device is provided with a viterbi decoder 3 equipped with antennas 1a and 2a, demodulation parts 2a and 2b, four ACS parts 41-44 and a path memory 5. A signal convolution-coded for a restrict length 3 is received by two antennas 1a and 1b and respectively demodulated by the demodulation parts 2a and 2b, and demodulated information INa and INb are outputted to all the ACS parts 41-44. By applying ACS processing to the information of a plurality of routes by the respective ACS parts 41-44 simultaneous with route selection, a code sequence (expected value) closest to a plurality of received signals is found, the error-correction is performed by storing/updating a path in one path memory 5, and corrected data Dout are outputted.
