A concentric slave cylinder having a housing (10) with radially spaced inner (11) and outer (12) walls defining an annular working chamber (13) therebetween in which an annular piston (14) is axially slideable. Seals (23, 24) are provided between the piston (14) and the inner and outer walls (11, 12) to seal the working chamber. These seals comprise a first seal (24) housed in an annular recess in the outer wall (12) which contacts an outer surface of the piston (14) and a second seal (23) housed in an annular recess in the inner wall (11) and which contacts an inner surface of the piston (14).
