A fuel cell-use separator having a bending breaking strain of at least 0.5%, or a compressive modulus of elasticity of up to 20 GPa, or a Shore hardness of 20-50, and, preferably made from a compact containing graphite and resin; and a fuel cell-use separator which consists of a compact containing graphite and resin and in which a total concentration of sodium, potassium, iron, nickel, magnesium eluting into immersion water after immersed for 100 hours in the water having 30 times the volume of the compact and kept at 80°C is up to 20 ppm and a sulfur concentration is up to 30 ppm; can produce a fuel cell that is excellent in the assembling integrity of a fuel cell stack and is not likely to deteriorate cell characteristics after an extended time of operation. |
