Arrangement for supply of respiration gas at various, essentially breathing synchronized, pressure levels, has a regulator that adjusts the respiration gas pressure based on a measurement signal representing the instantaneous respiration gas flow and a measurement of the effort required by a patient in inspiration or expiration with a sensor attached to the thorax or abdomen. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for adjusting a control device and a method for configuration of a control system for the pressure level of a respirator or similar.
