A process for imprinting an animal, especially a cow to a target area, especially a milking area comprises determining the coordinates (C1) of the animal at a first time point (t1) transmitting a signal assigned to the individual animal to the animal. The coordinates (C2) are then determined for a time point (t2) and an aversion treatment is carried out on the individual animal concerned if a coordinate difference (DELTAC) of the coordinates (C2) to time point (t2) and the coordinates (K1) to time point (t1) is outside a preset bandwidth of the coordinates (C1) in the direction of the target area. The whole process is preferably repeated at least once until a message is triggered and/or a pre-set time interval (DELTAt) is elapsed.
