The method involves determining at least two measurement signals from axially offset pressure, flow rate or temperature sensors, computing a periodicity value from at least one signal as a measure of the occurrence of periodic signal level changes with a defined first time offset, computing a correlation value as a measure of the similarity of the signals for a second time offset and deriving the warning from periodicity and correlation values.
