PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove adverse influence exerted on an image carrier 1 caused by frictional heat between the image carrier 1 and a rubbing member in an image forming apparatus having the image carrier 1 and image forming equipment including a member to rub the image carrier. SOLUTION: By providing an air duct A in the image carrier 1, the image carrier 1 is air-cooled to prevent the temperature of the image carrier from rising because of the frictional heat due to the rubbing of a contact electrifying member and a cleaning blade, whereby the adverse influence such as potential fluctuation caused by temperature rise is prevented.
