PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyamide resin composition having the surface appearance and toughness comparable to those of non-reinforced polyamide and exhibiting excellent dimensional stability, strength and rigidity and provide a method for producing the composition. SOLUTION: The polyamide resin composition containing a plate-form aluminum compound dispersed in a polyamide resin is produced by heating (A) a polyamide-forming monomer, (B) water and (C) an aluminum source under pressure to proceed the polymerization reaction of the polyamide and the hydrothermal synthetic reaction of the plate-form aluminum compound in the same reactor. The plate-form aluminum compound is present in an arbitrary cross-section of the polyamide resin composition dispersed at an average length of 20-300 nm and an average thickness of 1-10 nm.
