<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an active matrix drive type liquid crystal device to display an image of high quality with a superior switching characteristic by improving shading performance for return light, etc., from the downside of TFTs that a precharge circuit, a sampling circuit, etc., have. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device (200) has a liquid crystal layer (50) sandwiched between a couple of substrates, pixel electrodes (11) which are provided in matrix on a substrate, and TFTs (30) which perform switching control over them.
