<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trunnion support for a variable position stator vane 12. <P>SOLUTION: The stator vane 12 comprises an upper trunnion 28 and a lower trunnion 40 to allow the stator vane to be pivoted about a longitudinal axis. The lower trunnion 40 is supported in a bushing 44 supported in an opening 54 provided in a carrier ring 52 of an annular stator vane. The bushing 44 is fitted to the inside of the carrier ring 52 to be supported and pressed against the opening 54 of the carrier ring. When material of the carrier ring expands due to a temperature rise, the bushing 44 extends and a close frictional engagement between the bushing 44 and the opening 54 is maintained, since the bushing 44 is compressed in advance. Therefore, relative rotation between the bushing 44 and the carrier ring 52 can be prevented and abrasion of the carrier ring material is minimized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
