<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy various of resistance of a light scattering film used for control of a view angle by giving various functions, such as a hard coat, antireflection, ultraviolet absorption and antifouling to the film and also to ensure the surface smoothness of the film in applying the light scattering film to a display device. <P>SOLUTION: In the light scattering film, portions with different refractive indexes are distributed in irregular shape and thickness within a film to form band-shaped lightness and darkness due to the highness and lowness of the refractive indexes. The light scattering film has a layered cross section, wherein the extending direction of the band-shaped lightness and darkness is inclined with respect to the principle plane of the film, at a particular film cross section.
