<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve conventional problems in which various external forces, which are imparted to an adhesive surface in assembling with an optical module, give adverse effect directly on an optical element to cause deterioration in the characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: In this optical device S1, a ferrule 5 is formed with a groove 6 for mounting elements in the manner crossing an optical fiber F. With optical elements 4 placed in this groove 6, an optical path and the optical elements 4 are covered with a first adhesive 8a having translucency and a low Young's modulus.
