<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensively manufacturable catalyst in which a catalyst layer has excellent adhesiveness though it is formed on an aluminum-containing metal. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst includes an aluminum-containing metal carrier, an adhesive layer formed on the metal carrier, an adhesive layer containing crystalline silicate and silica formed thereon, and a catalyst layer formed on the latter adhesive layer.
