PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean soil or ground water polluted with organohalogen compounds by adding collected dust containing an iron powder to the soil or ground water. SOLUTION: The soil or ground water polluted with the organohalogen compound is cleaned by adding collected dust containing the iron powder to the soil or ground water. As the collected dust containing the iron powder, collected dust generated by the cleaning treatment of a ferrous casting, especially collected dust captured by shot blast treatment is used and this dust desirably contains 0.6-5 wt.% of carbon. The collected dust generated in a ferrous casting factory subjected to disposal treatment heretofore as industrial waste can be effectively utilized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
