<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tatami mat deodorizing board coated with powdered charcoal which adsorbs harmful substances such as formaldehyde in a short period of time. <P>SOLUTION: In the tatami deodorizing board 9 coated with powdered charcoal, a powdered charcoal layer containing powdered charcoal 3 is formed on the surface of a straw fiber board 8. In the straw fiber board 8, a material mixed with crushed straw 1 is compressed. The adsorption effect of the crushed straw 1 constituting the straw fiber board 8 is added to the adsorption effect of the powdered charcoal 3 as a synergetic effect. A straw has a narrow hole at the center of the stem. Since the hole is surrounded with a porous sponge material, the straw hafcs higher adsorption function for adsorbing harmful substances such as formaldehyde in air as compared with wood of few narrow holes and sponge materials.
