PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a V-shaped, curved, narrow channel having a good surface shape and applying beautiful coating to the formed chan nel in a decorative plate, and also to provide the decorative plate. SOLUTION: By cutting the surface of the decorative plate 1 in which a surface decorative material 12 of an oak veneer 1 mm in thickness is stuck on the surface of a woody base material 11 mm in thickness made of five-ply plywood by using a circular sawing machine, the narrow channel (V-channel) 13a having a V-shaped cross section 110 degree in opening angle is formed. After that, by pressing the channel 13a by a hot press roll having a shaping projected part with a shaping surface recessed in a curved shape, the outside angular part of the channel 13a is formed in an outward projected curved shape. The channel 13a is formed in the final curved V-shape by polishing the surface of the channel 13b with the outside angular part formed in the outward projected curved shape by using a cross sander type polishing apparatus.
