PURPOSE: A search window adjusting method of a mobile communication terminal is provided to capture an active set and reduce a call drop by reducing a neighbor set search window size when a mobile terminal enters into an area with numerous pilot signals in a traffic state. CONSTITUTION: A terminal checks a traffic channel frame being received by its receiving end in a traffic state(S101). It is checked whether a bad frame of the checked frame is above a certain threshold value(S102). If the bad frame is above the threshold value, a neighbor set search window size is reduced(S103). If the bad frame is below the threshold value, the neighbor set search window size is maintained as it is(S104). After the search window size is adjusted, when a good frame is received, the neighbor set search window size is changed to a parameter value received in a traffic channel message(S107). If a good frame is not received, the neighbor set search window size is reduced(S106).
