PURPOSE: A device for transmitting data for operating an LCD and a method thereof are provided to reduce current necessary for operating the LCD by transmitting data between a controller and a source drive-IC(Integrated Circuit) as a gray code mode, thereby reducing a transition between transmitted data maximally. CONSTITUTION: A controller(11) encodes a binary code from a graphic card into a gray code, and outputs the encoded gray code with a source control signal. A source drive-IC(12) receives the source control signal, decodes the gray code into a binary code, executes D/A converting of the decoded binary code, and outputs the converted binary code. The graphic card includes a function for encoding a binary code into a gray code. The source drive-IC(12) executes D/A converting of the gray code and outputs the converted gray code to an LCD.
