PURPOSE: An automatic tool changer for a dual type tool magazine is provided to cut down expenses by transferring tools to magazines with a single sub changer, and to change the tool promptly by transmitting the tool to the magazine quickly with simple sequence. CONSTITUTION: An automatic tool changer comprises a first tool magazine(10-1) having a sub changer(60) transferring tools from tool ports to magazines or a tool boy, and the tool boy transferring the tool to the machine body; a second tool magazine(10-2) arranged in parallel with the first tool magazine without the sub changer and the tool boy; and a guide bar(20) connected horizontally to upper parts of the first and second tool magazines. The sub changer is combined with the guide bar with sliding, and transferred to the first and second tool magazines by a transfer cylinder(31). The tool is changed promptly with dual type tool magazines by the single sub changer.
