<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a high-definition image without degrading an image to be formed by new image data when an image processing apparatus is constituted so that the new image data is formed by processing image data for magnification, reduction, synthesis and image quality adjustment, etc., of the image. <P>SOLUTION: A switching control part 116 discriminates whether or not a completely transparent pixel exists based on transparency data α of pixel data to be supplied through input terminals 111, 112, 113, 114 and supplies this discrimination result to a selector 115. The selector 115 replaces color data of the completely transparent pixel with color data of a pixel which is not completely transparent according to a prescribed pattern based on the discrimination result from the switching control part 116.
