PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile communication apparatus which can shorten a communication time according to a communication procedure based on T.30 recommended by ITU-T. SOLUTION: In a transmission mode, a file assembly/disassembly part 31d and a format converter 7 create image data of a plurality of pages into a single file and transmit the file continuously. In a reception mode, a key word setting/ decision part 31a<SB>2</SB>recognizes the received data as the data of the transmitted file on the basis of the fact that a predetermined keyword of a predetermined number of bytes or more is present at a predetermined position in the received data and disassembles the received file into the original image data of the plurality of pages. Further, a facsimile communication unit 32, after transmission of the file, transmits a file transmission procedure end signal corresponding to an EOP signal based on ITU-T recommendation, returns a message receive confirmation signal corresponding to an MCF signal based on ITU-T recommendation in response to reception of the file transmission procedure end signal, whereby communication of a multi-page scheme wherein image data corresponding to a plurality of pages is transmitted and received at a time continuously is carried out.
