PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital still camera which is made thin and simplified in the structure of housing even when a lens mirror barrel is placed around the middle of a camera main body. SOLUTION: The digital still camera with: the lens mirror barrel 2 containing an imaging lens in the camera main body 1; an imaging element 3 placed at a tail end of the lens mirror barrel 2 and imaging on object image captured through the imaging lens; and an image display device 4 for displaying the image picked up by the imaging element 3 onto a rear side of the camera main body 1 is characterized by that a container section 5 for containing one side 41 of the image display device 4 is formed to the tail end 21 of the lens mirror barrel 2 and at the side of the imaging element 3 and the one side 41 of the image display device is placed to the container section 51.
