PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acoustic echo erasing method in which the acoustic echo of an adaptive filter can be estimated robustly at high speed even in a high noise status. SOLUTION: An error signal obtained as the difference between the acoustic echo and a dummy echo is converted to the frequency domain at the interval of a short time, a received signal is converted to the frequency domain for each short-time block as a signal for correction, and a correction vector is obtained by multiplying the error signal and the signal for correction in the frequency domain for each frequency component. In the frequency domain, the short-time average of a received signal power spectrum, the cross spectrum of the received signal and a sound collecting signal and the power spectrum of the sound collecting signal is obtained, the ratio of the acoustic echo signal in the sound collecting signal is estimated for each frequency band, and the reciprocal of the short-time average of the power spectrum of the corresponding received signal and the ratio of the acoustic echo signal in the sound collecting signal are multiplied to the correction vector for each frequency band. Thus, the correction vector is corrected and by using that corrected vector, a dummy echo route in the frequency area is updated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
