PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital contents distribution system capable of realizing a secure utilization period limitation function in a system for digital contents utilization through recording the contents on a recording medium. SOLUTION: Distributed data 2 received by a user terminal 3 is sent to a recording device 4 and recorded on a recording medium 5. The distributed data comprises digital contents and utilization period limitation information (utilization start date and utilization end date). A reproducing device 6 reads the utilization period limitation information which is recorded together with the digital contents, checks the information against the present time and determines whether or not to reproduce the digital contents recorded on the recording medium 5.
