PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive and control unit wherein vibration control immediately after start-up of a motor can be successfully terminated in a short time and subsequent phase control and amplitude control can be exercised with accuracy. SOLUTION: The motor drive and control unit comprises a revolution detecting means for acquiring information on the revolution of a stepping motor; a sine wave generating means which generates one or more sine waves; a changing means for changing either or both of the phase and the amplitude of sine waves generated by the sine wave generating means; and a motor current superposing means which controls motor current based on signals generated by the changing means so that the components of sine waves are superposed on the current passed through the motor. The motor drive and control unit is further provided with a constant speed detecting means which decides whether the motor has reached a predetermined constant speed, and a vibration information detecting means which, when the motor speed is decided to be the constant speed by the constant speed detecting means, acquires vibration information from revolution information from the revolution detecting means.
