PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component having improved migration resistance, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: An external electrode 5 is provided on at least one end face of at least a pair of electronic component element bodies that has a ceramic element body 3, the pattern of an internal electrode 4 on the ceramic element body 3, and inorganic insulating layers 1 on the pattern and ceramic element body 3. Resin insulating layer 2 are provided on unformed outer surfaces of the external electrode 5 of the electronic component element body. At least one portion of the resin insulating layer 2 is provided on the inner surface of the electronic component element body, an interface 6 between the inorganic insulating layer and ceramic element body, and an interface 7 between the inorganic insulating layer and the pattern.
