PURPOSE: An array panel for a transverse field LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to produce a wide liquid crystal panel by forming source and drain electrodes and data lines with low-resistance lines. CONSTITUTION: Aluminum or an aluminum alloy is deposited on the front face of a substrate(100) having a first metal pattern, a first data line(124a), a first data pad electrode(126a) and a metal pattern(128). The substrate deposited with aluminum or an aluminum alloy is patterned to form source and drain electrodes(134,136), a second data line(124b) and a second data pad electrode(126b). A pixel electrode composed of an extension, many vertical portions and horizontal portions(138c) is formed simultaneously. A first storage contact hole is formed by etching a portion of the horizontal portion. A first data pad contact hole is formed by etching a portion of the second data pad electrode. The contact resistance is reduced by making a transparent electrode directly contact to a metal layer.
