PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord for reinforcing rubber articles, having high durability keeping its high mechanical strength. SOLUTION: This steel cord is made by laying a plurality of strands composed of a plurality of steel filaments; wherein a layer-laid strand 5z that a crimped single core filament 2z is sandwiched by a plurality of sheath filaments 3 in the longitudinal direction is used as the core strand.
