PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing methyl chloride, in high reaction rate and high selectivity, by reacting hydrogen chloride with methanol in a gas phase method, while improving the reaction rate without involving caulking and corrosion in a reaction vessel. SOLUTION: This subject is solved by supplying hydrogen chloride from a hydrogen chloride feeding inlet 2, which is provided at the upper end of the reaction vessel 4, in which a solid catalyst is packed, while methanol is supplied dividedly from a first methanol devided feeding inlet 1, which is provided at the upper end of the reaction vessel 4, and from a second methanol devided feeding inlet 5, which is provided at the middle portion of the reaction vessel 4.
