PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a current in a battery 31 is consumed and the battery 31 may run out because a great power supply variation takes place immediately after an ignition switch 30 is turned on and noise (incorrect pulse) generated by the power supply variation induces an electric motor 6 to be driven for assistance control in spite of no start of an engine. SOLUTION: This electric power steering device comprises a masking means 32 for applying masking processing to prevent an engine speed signal N or a vehicle speed signal V from being received from an engine speed sensor 17 or a vehicle speed sensor 16 in a certain time t0 after the ignition switch 30 is turned on.
