摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an ethyl group-containing alicyclic tertiary alcohol, by which good hydrogenation of ethynylated alicyclic tertiary alcohol be attained and the ethyl group-containing alicyclic tertiary alcohol can be obtained in high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the ethyl group-containing alicyclic alcohol comprises carrying out (1) a step for producing the ethynylated alicyclic tertiary alcohol by reacting a cyclic ketone with acetylene in the presence of an alkali catalyst in a solvent (A), (2) a step for extracting the resultant ethynylated alicyclic tertiary alcohol with a solvent (B) having high compatibility for the alcohol and low compatibility for the solvent (A) and water and not inhibiting activity of hydrogenation catalyst of the successive hydrogenation step, (3) a step for washing a solvent (B) layer containing the ethynylated alicyclic tertiary alcohol and (4) a step for hydrogenating the ethynylated alicyclic tertiary alcohol in the solvent (B) in this order.
