The invention concerns a method for controlling an electromechanical calliper of a disc brake system, which consists in determining a pad/ brake disc contact position (υf0) and at each disc brake release phase in controlling an electric motor so as to push back a piston away from the brake disc up to a first target position (υtarget 1) spaced apart from the contact position (υf0) by a first predefined amount such that the electromechanical calliper does not substantially exert any brake application force on the brake pads, and then in controlling the electric motor so as to move forward the piston from the first target position towards the brake disc up to a second target position (υtarget 2) spaced apart from the contact position (υf0) by a second predefined amount, less than the first predefined amount. The second target position is a standby position for a next application/release cycle of the disc brake. The second predefined amount is selected so as to obtain a minimum residual braking torque at the end of the current release phase and a minimum response time of the disc brake for the next application/release cycle.
|
