PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for drawing a glass preform, where the position of the member for supporting the glass preform is not restricted by the sealing of the container and movable freely at the upper side of the container. SOLUTION: The apparatus is equipped with a furnace for heating and softening a glass preform, a system for supplying the glass preform and a system for taking up the drawn glass preform, where a work container 4 is set at the upper side of the furnace. A sealing lid 13 is set at the upper side of the work container where a work supporting member 3 penetrates. At least one member (a movable disk) 20 comprising the sealing lid 13 is freely movable at a plane lying at right angles to the work supporting member 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
