PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To vary a storage capacity for each use in accordance with use circumstances without fixing a capacity limit for each use in order to efficiently use a large capacity storage part of a printer. SOLUTION: The printer is provided with a function of acquiring a maximum storage capacity of the large capacity storage part, a function of acquiring a minimum storage capacity secured by each use set in the printer, and a function of acquiring a use amount stored in the large capacity storage part for each use. A use amount of a common storage capacity is calculated from each capacity value acquired by these functions, and a free capacity for each use is obtained. The storage capacity is adjusted in accordance with use circumstances of each use when a write and a delete processes to the large capacity storage part are generated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
