The holder (14) for the bolt clamping parts(15) is resiliently supported against the bottom of the space (11) for receiving the bolt by at least one spring (16). The clamping device (1) includes a piston (5) movably mounted inside a cylinder bore (4) to form a pressure region. The piston contains a space for receiving the bolt and is used to actuate a clamping mechanism that fixes the bolt inside this space. The clamping mechanism comprises a holder containing clamping parts which can be moved between an inner radial position where they are in contact with the bolt inside the space and an outer radial position where they are released from the bolt. The holder can be moved in an axial direction inside the space for the bolt.
