PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional liquid suction/discharge mechanism for liquid ejection head that it cannot be made compact and the part cost is high. SOLUTION: The liquid supply/discharge mechanism comprises a first liquid tank 27 storing liquid I being fed to a liquid ejection head 11, a waste liquid tank 40 storing waste liquid being discharged from the liquid ejection head 11, common piping 32 having one end communicating with the interior of the first liquid tank 27, a common pump 34 provided on the other end side of the common piping 32, a liquid supply pipe 33 interconnecting the common pump 34 and a second liquid tank 31 storing the liquid I being fed to the first liquid tank 27, a first on/off valve 46 provided in the liquid supply pipe 33, a suction pipe 42 interconnecting the common pump 34 and the waste liquid tank 40, and a second on/off valve 47 provided in the suction pipe 42.
