PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously change operating speed and thrust of an electric cylinder from low speed and large thrust to high speed and small thrust like a hydraulic cylinder. SOLUTION: In the electric cylinder, a cylindrical rotary shaft 2 is connected to the output part of an electric motor 6 in a cylindrical casing. A screw shaft 12 is disposed in the rotary shaft and screwed to a nut member 10 supporting the screw shaft in the cylindrical casing so as to freely rotate.
