PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-scaled rise and fall device having a large rise and fall force. SOLUTION: The rise and fall device is provided with a working device 20 such as an auger, a hummer, etc. A pinion gear meshing with a rack provided in the leader of the piling machine is rotated while making the guide pipe guide by a guide gib 2 biting the guide pipe of the leader to rise and fall along the leader. Two or more pairs of pinion gears 6a-6d oppositely arranged so as to pinch the rack are provided and rise and fall hydraulic motors 5, 5... are provided at every pinion gear 6a-6d.
