It is generally known that, in hydroelectric power stations, water flows through a pipe before meeting the turbine of the hydroelectric power station and releasing its energy thereto. Depending on the type of hydroelectric power station, said pipe can be a downpipe through which the water flows according to the topical conditions dependent on the falling height and the quantity of water. The aim of the invention is to provide means which enable the flow speed of the water (fluid) in the region of the turbine to be regulated. To this end, the inventive flow pipe is provided with a turbine which is arranged therein, said turbine being rotated by means of a fluid flowing through the pipe. The turbine has a variable cross-section, by which means the flow cross-section inside the pipe can be modified.
