PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooking device capable of being used over a wide range of cooking by providing a burner with a quick rising property and a wide variable range of combustion amount. SOLUTION: The burning surface of a burning element 4 consisting of an aggregate 7 of metallic fine lines is disposed near the outer periphery of a burner body 1, and a shielding body 13 of perforated plate structure is disposed which faces a burning surface and is formed with oxide skins thereon to make the central section of the burner body 1 into a non-burning area 10. Thus, the burner 14 can be realized by radiating radiant heat in a wide range even if the area of the burning surface is small to prevent generation of backfire even if the combustion amount is set so as to be large, and also a cooking device used over a wide range of cooking can be also provided by using the burner 12.
