<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device that prevents erroneous detection in reading of a pattern regardless of soil on the light emitting face and light receiving face of a photo-sensor which reads a pattern for correcting registration. <P>SOLUTION: A correction pattern 71 is formed on a second image carrier by a pattern forming means in order to correct a quantity of light emitted by the light emitting element of each pattern reading means 60, 61.
